There Were 4 In The Bed And The Little One Said…

It Was a Dark and Chilly Morning

The sun lazily lingered below the horizon. Snuggling deeper into my covers, two little feet pitter pattered  sleepily into my room accompanied by a sweet little voice calling, “Mommy?”

One goose bump covered body crawled under the covers and snuggled in close, hogging my pillow. I snuggled back. A few minutes later, two more feet pitter pattered into my room and also crawled under the covers.

Two extra little heads crowding my pillow. Two little bodies that seem to be getting bigger whenever I’m not looking. Two sweet little noses snoring gently. Four little legs delivering the occasional swift kick and twitch. The soft breathing from two pairs of healthy lungs (the odor of which could be greatly improved by a toothbrush). One fuzzy orange kitty coming and lying on top of all of us, purring gently.

Does life get any sweeter than this? As I look at my boys each day, I’m constantly amazed at how darn fast they are growing up! When did they get so tall? When did those adorable, chubby babies turn into such tall, grownup looking boys? I’m not quite sure.

Savoring The Small Things

As I lay in bed with those two sweet little boys pressed up on either side of me, I wanted to hang on to that moment forever. Savoring those sweet moments, committing them to memory. These moments are what fill my heart to overflowing with love for these incredible people who have joined me in this life.

I will deal with the tantrums, drama, and bickering later. Right now, I’m going to hug my boys and make sure they know how much I love them.

What are your favorite things about being a parent? What memories do you want to hang on to for the rest of your life?
