When Mom is Sick
We are in the height of cold and flu season. Kids pass colds around at school like little carrier monkeys. It’s miserable to see your little angels sick (although their snuggles are delightful when they feel under the weather). But the whole world comes to a screeching halt when Mom is sick.
When Mom gets sick, the laundry piles up, dishes fill the sink, the kids are turn into free-range chickens and graze at will through random boxes of crackers and cereal from the pantry – anything that doesn’t require cooking!
It’s just not fair!
When so much is depending on you, it’s extra important that you give yourself a little TLC to keep Mom in tip-top health!
3 Tips to Keeping Mom Healthy
- Get enough rest. While doctors and experts drone on about the importance of 8 hours of sleep every night, you and I happen to live in the real world – a world that involves staying up late, kids interrupting what little precious sleep you get, and then an early start to each new day. I know how tough it is (if not impossible) to get those 8 hours. Get what you can. Take power-naps when possible. It does make a difference.
- Eat Healthy. You are what you eat. And your body needs proper nutrition to be able to resist all the icky germs and viruses your kids bring home with them. Stay hydrated and eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies.
- Vitamins. Reality check – many times, it’s hard to get the rest and healthy food we all know we need (I’m so guilty of this!). This year, my lifesaver has been Airborne. On the days when I know I’m pushing my limits and I’m starting to feel a hint of flu ache or a tingle of sore throat, I load up on this blessed nutritional supplement and within a few hours I’m feeling fine! It’s amazing. Yeah, it’s about $5-6 per bottle, but well worth the price to stay healthy so I can keep up with my kiddos, business, and life. Check it out and stock up!
This cold and flu season, remember to take care of #1. Remember, self-care isn’t selfish! It’s necessary for survival – because Mom’s Don’t Get Sick Days!
I’d love to hear from you! Do you have any secret remedies to ward off the nasty flu-bugs your kids bring home? How do you handle those times when you get sick?
Warmly,
