On a cold January morning, we loaded the kids in the car and headed about three miles south of our house to a preserve for endangered birds of prey.

The boys found it almost as fascinating as me. We mere inches from a bald eagle, California Condors, a Harpy Eagle, Perigrine Falcons, and other stunning birds.
I was struck by the intelligent gaze when I made eye contact with these elegant birds.
We had an excellent science lesson for the boys. I’m a true lover of real-time, hands on learning. Each day is filled with these opportunities. It’s so satisfying to take advantage of them.
